Last week I promised an update this week with a weirdly angled bungalow. While I’ve been working on that lot, most of my simming time this week has been spent on my little island, Mercury Island. I’ve not created the world. It’s been made by the talented Mems.
In my game it’s a lazy little island, that once was an important military base but now mainly lives off tourists. It’s very loosely based on the Danish island Christiansø and other Danish islands and old towns, but it’s carried out in my own technicolor simmified vibe.
This island’s full of community lots with combined functions, because I think that better fits such a small island. This means I’ve had to use the very useful custom rabbithole rugs from Custom Sims 3. There’s, for instance, a large Island Administration building, which contains both the mayor’s office, a small police office with a detention as well as the Tourist Office (business and journalism). The town centre, likewise, is a row of connected buildings that contain grocery store, diner, book shop, thrift shop (consignment store) and a small cinema and music venue.
Many buildings have been build for one purpose and later adapted to fill other functions. A few buildings, such as the library, school, and fire station are of newer date, but still more than half a century old.
If you enjoy small, non-tropical island worlds for your sims, I highly recommend you check out Mercury Grove as the world by Mems is originally called.
Oh my, I absolutely love this! I wish you were sharing it… It’s so quaint. In such a small world, I’m sure you don’t have too many random simmies running around!
Yesenia – I’m glad you like the island. I haven’t created the world, only the houses. Many of the contain cc, but maybe I’ll look into making shareable versions of these once I get back from my holiday.
is there any way this world can be shared yet??
Hi Susie, the world is already out there being shared. It’s created by Mems and you can find it here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/162646.page
